HEALTHPOINT, Ltd. Sponsors Educational Session
on Perineal Wound Healing at National Nurses Meeting

(Fort Worth, TX) — HEALTHPOINT?, Ltd., a Texas-based market leader in surgical, tissue management, and dermatology products will sponsor a talk on perineal skin care and incontinence at the 35th Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurses Society (WOCN) meeting beginning June 15 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

More than 1,500 nurses and other practitioners who treat wounds, ostomies, and incontinence health issues are expected to attend the June event.

Approximately 10 million Americans report suffering from urinary incontinence while an untold number suffer fecal incontinence, according to official studies.

Mikel Gray, PhD, CUNP, CCCN, FAAN, urology specialist, professor, and nurse practitioner of the University of Virginia School of Nursing will present an educational session entitled, “Protecting and Healing the Perineal Skin in Clients with Urinary and Fecal Incontinence” on Sunday, June 15 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.

The talk demonstrates HEALTHPOINT’s continued investment in healthcare advances for the elderly as well as its continued support of professional education for medical personnel.

“ At HEALTHPOINT, we have always believed that education efforts are fundamental to developing new and improved ways to help medical professionals serve their patients needs,” said Scott Goodridge, HEALTHPOINT Marketing Manager for Wound Management. “We are pleased to be able to attend the 35th WOCN symposium, where we can exchange ideas with those who have first-hand knowledge of advanced wound care therapies.”

In addition to Professor’s Gray’s session on Sunday, HEALTHPOINT encourages conference participants to attend booth presentations on Monday and Tuesday. The first of these special “Telemedicine” sessions, running from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Monday and 11:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday will be presented by Dot Weir, RN, CWOCN of Orlando Regional Medical Center and Carolyn Cutino, RN, BS, CETN of the Medical University of South Carolina. The second session, running from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Monday and 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday will be presented by Linda Bohacek, RN, CWS, WOCN of Triumph Hospital East Houston.

In keeping with Professor Gray’s session topic, Ms. Bohacek will be presenting HEALTHPOINT’s innovative prescription ointment, XENADERM™, a product designed to promote healing and act as a protective covering for wounds.

“The Telemedicine sessions give HEALTHPOINT the opportunity to really demonstrate a product,” said Mr. Goodridge. “After attending the sessions, WOCN attendees will know how XENADERM™ works, what it is designed to do, and what benefits it offers their patients.”
