| (Fort
Worth, TX) — H. Paul Dorman, Chairman and CEO of HEALTHPOINT
Ltd., a Texas-based market leader in surgical, tissue management,
and dermatology products, has announced that the company’s
Surgical Division will launch the first full line of brush-free surgical
scrubbing products with the introduction of TRISEPTIN Waterless® Surgical
Scrub March 25 during the 50th annual congress of the Association
of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) meeting in Chicago.
The brush-free scrub line includes Healthpoint’s popular preoperative
asepsis product, TRISEPTIN® Water-Aided, the first brush-free alcohol
surgical scrub on the U.S. market, and TRISEPTIN Waterless, an alcohol-based
scrub that can be used without water and scrub brush. The new full
line provides the surgical staff with one standardized technology to
fulfill all their “scrubbing” needs.
“
Two years ago at the AORN congress, HEALTHPOINT launched the patented
Trizenol™ technology that is the basis of TRISEPTIN Water-Aided,” said
Shawn Gentry, marketing director for HEALTHPOINT’s Surgical Division. “Now
we’re introducing the very latest in brush-free scrubbing: the
first full line of products that utilize the same compatible technology.”
Most hospital professionals have three options for surgical scrubbing:
traditional scrub brush; water-aided, brush-free scrub; or waterless,
brush-free scrub. The introduction of the TRISEPTIN line provides hospital
surgical staff members with all these options, all utilizing the same
technology.
In recent FDA Tentative Final Monograph (TFM) in vivo testing performed,
TRISEPTIN Waterless, like TRISEPTIN Water-Aided, exceeded the testing
criteria set forth for surgical scrub classification at all the FDA
testing time points.
TRISEPTIN Waterless requires only two applications, rather than the
three required by some other brush-free products.
TRISEPTIN Waterless, like its predecessor TRISEPTIN Water-Aided, is
based on the Trizenol technology. Trizenol technology has three key
elements — a fast acting, alcohol active; a long-lasting preservative;
and a surfactant that assists in the removal of dirt and organic debris — all
combined in an emollient-rich formula to help maintain skin integrity.
“
According to published reports, traditional scrub brushes can cause
skin shedding, which can increase bacterial contamination,” said
Mr. Gentry. “Our goal is to provide hospital staff with the brush-free
technology to increase the standard of care in the area of skin antisepsis
by offering superior brush-free products. The entire line provides
the surgical staff with more options to transition to brush free, as
well as to provide persistence.
“
TRISEPTIN Water-Aided is one of the most effective surgical scrubs
currently on the market,” Mr. Gentry continued. “Now, with
the introduction of TRISEPTIN Waterless, a full line of brush-free
scrubbing products is available to the surgical community that is effective,
easy to use and economical.”
HEALTHPOINT’s new brush-free line should greatly improve cost-effectiveness
compared to the traditional methods by minimizing the number of brush
products hospitals must stock, the company said.
Since its inception in 1992, HEALTHPOINT has established a U.S. presence
in the research, development, and marketing of branded pharmaceuticals,
over the counter drugs, and medical devices for tissue management,
dermatology, and surgical applications. An aggressive research and
development effort has brought HEALTHPOINT's unique technologies to
the market, setting the pace for its highly trained field sales organization
of direct sales representatives. HEALTHPOINT, with over 250 employees,
is a DFB Pharmaceuticals, Inc. affiliate company.
