Fort Worth Firm Receives Honors in International Communications Competition

JODesign Wins 2006 Inspire Award for “IRIDOS” Publication

Fort Worth, TX – April 17, 2007 – JODesign, a Fort Worth-based design, marketing and public relations firm, is proud to announce that it has won a 2006 Inspire Award, receiving the distinction of Honors in the annual Inspire Awards Newsletter & Magazine Competition held by the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP) in San Diego, California. JODesign received the award for work done for IRIDOS, a semi-annual publication of the Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT).

Christine Kennedy, managing director of LACP called the IRIDOS entry “remarkable in light of tremendous competition.” More than 425 entries were received for the 2006 Inspire Awards, comprising newsletters and magazines from seven countries.

JODesign manages the design, layout and print management for IRIDOS, a glossy semi-annual publication distributed to members and supporters of BRIT and to the scientific community. To create IRIDOS, JODesign works closely with BRIT’s staff member Robert George, editor of IRIDOS, and Paige Hendricks of Paige Hendricks Public Relations, Inc., editorial, concept and production consultant.

In the competition, JODesign received a score of 93 out of 100 (to include three perfect scores), which is defined as “Superb-Among the Very Best Judged.” The winning entry was evaluated and scored on the following nine categories: first impression, artwork, readability, creativity, message clarity, variety of features, audience focus, perceived relevance and ease of navigation. Each year, a field of communications professionals affiliated with LACP judges the Inspire Awards Newsletter and Magazine Competition, a metrics-based competition where graphic designers, publishers and writers representing a wide range of industries, countries and organizational sizes compete.
