Lone Star Salutes Our American Heroes

The Lone Star Wind Orchestra, under the baton of Eugene Migliaro Corporon, is launching its exciting 2008-2009 concert season with a matinee performance on Sunday, November 9, 2008 at 2:30 pm at the Eisemann Center in Richardson, TX. This inspirational concert titled “An American Salute” celebrates not only the triumphs of our veterans, but also embraces our current military heroes and their families who are giving so much to our nation. Tickets range from $10 to $40 and are available at LoneStarWindOrchestra.com or by calling 972-744-4650. Groups of 10 or more qualify for a 50% discount. Call 972-744-4650 for group rate purchases.

All veterans as well as current military personnel and their immediate families will receive a special 50% discounted ticket price. To receive your veteran discount call 972-744-4650 and mention discount code “66”.

This concert marks the season debut with Eugene Migliaro Corporon in his new position as Principal Conductor of the Lone Star Wind Orchestra. Corporon is one of the most well respected band directors in the United States and is also currently the conductor of the North Texas Wind Symphony and Regents Professor of Music at the University of North Texas. In a recent interview, Corporon said, “The Lone Star Wind Orchestra is one of the most exciting groups I have ever worked with and this season is going to be remarkable! I’m amazed and energized by the high performance level this all-volunteer group has reached in only its third season.”

The American classics being performed at the 90-minute concert will include rousing favorites by gifted composers such as: - Stars and Stripes Forever by John Philip Sousa

        - American Salute by Morton Gould
        - Variations on “America” by Charles Ives
        - National Emblem March by E.E. Bagley
        - Each Time You Tell Their Story by Samuel Hazo
        - Valor of the MNC-I (Multi-National Corps Iraq) by Christopher Tucker

In addition to celebrating our American heroes at this concert, the Lone Star Wind Orchestra will continue to build on its vision of “inspiring and educating through music” with its Lone Star Kids outreach program. The goal of this program is to teach middle school children the many benefits of participating in band and the positive impact music can have in their life.

There will be two Title-1 schools and 200+ kids participating in the Lone Star Kids outreach program for this concert. They will be provided free tickets to this event at the world-class Eisemann Performance Center and will have premier seating to get an “up-close and personal” concert experience.

The two schools represented at this concert are Richardson's Apollo Junior High School and Liberty Middle School.

According to Kimberly Tucker, Head Band Director at Bussey Middle School in Garland, TX, the Lone Star Kids outreach program inspired her kids beyond belief. In a letter she wrote after her students attended one of Lone Star's concerts last year, Mrs. Tucker said, "This was the first time that a large majority of my students were able to experience an artistic event outside the city of Garland. Thank you for giving my young band students such a positive educational and artistic experience!"
