“Willkommen!” It’s a Covey Oktoberfest
September 12 & 13 in Fort Worth
Weekend Festivities to Benefit First Command Educational Foundation

(Fort Worth, TX) --- With national and international accolades under local brewmaster Jamie Fulton’s belt, he’s chosen 2008 as the perfect year to launch a Covey version of Oktoberfest, the famous German event.

Mr. Fulton has announced that The Covey Restaurant & Brewery will host A Covey Oktoberfest at the Hulen Street restaurant on Friday, September 12, from 3:00 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. and Saturday, September 13, from 11:00 a.m. until 10:30 p.m.

And more than drinkers and diners will benefit: ten percent of proceeds from the Munich-style weekend will go to First Command Educational Foundation (FCEF), a Fort Worth-based non-profit that promotes education through scholarships and financial literacy programs across the country. FCEF will use the funds donated from this event to award scholarships exclusively in the Fort Worth community.

When Bavaria’s crazy Prince Ludwig married beautiful Princess Therese in October of 1810, all Munich celebrated, holding horse races and other fun events. That year and each October thereafter, Oktoberfest’s beer masters filled steins to overflowing while oom-pah bands played and everyone had a great time, creating a planetary tradition that will take a Texas twist next month at The Covey, according to Mr. Fulton.

The weekend will feature a special Oktoberfest buffet for guests to sample Bavarian classics like bier bratwurst, knackwurst, sauerkraut, German coleslaw and potato salad, wiener schnitzel and, of course, The Covey’s award-winning locally-brewed beers including the Vienna Lager (Gold Medal Champion, Vienna-Style Lager category, 2008 World Beer Cup®). The buffet is $18.00; beverages are not included in the price.

The Covey Restaurant & Brewery has been a proud sponsor of First Command Educational Foundation since late 2007, Mr. Fulton said.

“FCEF is an ideal beneficiary for our Oktoberfest,” said Mr. Fulton. “The weekend will be great fun, and it will also be an opportunity for aficionados (anhangers in German) and novices alike to experience and learn about this almost 200-year-old festival.”
