Young Artists Apprenticeship

In the Young Artists Apprenticeship Program Art Sessions, students
work with local and national masters weekly to refine their own
artistic skills. They are able to explore a wide range of mediums
to encourage future involvement in the arts. The YAAP is open to
all FWISD high school students and requires a portfolio application.
FWISD high school art teachers will receive detailed information
from the FWISD Art Department. Deadline for 2009-2010 application
to be announced.

19th Annual Special Weekend for the Deaf and Hard
of Hearing

Imagination Celebration Fort Worth continues to break down
barriers with the 19th Annual Weekend for the Deaf and Hard of
Hearing on
April 17-18 at the Dallas/Fort Worth Marriott Hotel and Golf
Club at Champion Circle. This is a unique gathering of 500 deaf
and
hard of hearing Texas youth from 31 school districts across the
state, with national artists and actors who are both deaf and
hearing. Themed “Rennais-Art,” the weekend will explore fifteenth
and sixteenth century’s art and history with workshops, performances
and special guests. Headliners for this year’s Deaf and Hard
of Hearing Weekend include actor Ty Giordano, Anthony Natale, “Maid” Martha
Hannah, Fred Beam, and Hip Pocket Theatre.

Art
of Exploration: Exploring Water – Preserving
the World’s Most Valuable Resource

The Art of Exploration: Exploring Water program will invite
2,000 6th-8th Grade students to discover what is happening to
water around
the world. They will learn how changes in the weather and atmosphere
affect the water supply for animals and people, and what scientists
are trying to do to protect this valuable resource. The lead
presenter is Dr. Terrie Williams, famous in the scientific community
through
her studies with camera-fitted seals in the Antarctic and also
her studies on shrinking water supplies in the African elephant’s
habitat. She will be joined by internationally-renowned environmental
engineer, Dr. Robert Gearheart, in lecturing and working with local
students on these issues. It is through ICFW’s creation
of the Art of Exploration program with Wings World Quest in New
York
that these one-of-a-kind educational opportunities are available
for our local children.

Frontier Forts Days provides 3rd-7th Grade students with an exciting
and historic look at frontier life in Texas, via the many forts
along the Texas Forts Trail and elsewhere in Texas. Events also
include the Quanah Parker Comanche Exhibition, cavalry competitions,
and the Ceremony of 8,000 Sacred Drums.

11th Annual Debbie Allen Dance Institute

Imagination Celebration is opening enrollment for the 11th Annual
Debbie Allen Dance Institute to students, ages 7-21, who, regardless
of previous dance experience, aspire to study under the artistic
direction of Debbie Allen. All students study dance disciplines
such as ballet, tap, jazz, modern, hip hop, African, and Flamenco.
Scholarships are available based on financial need.
The ICFW DADI is the first institute of its kind under Ms.
Allen’s
name and is held under her creative direction with top dance
masters as instructors. Following completion, students who
excel in the
various disciplines may be invited to join Ms. Allen in her
