Shula’s 347 Grill Launches Live
Jazz Each Thursday Night
Beginning May 28, 2009 with Freddie Jones Jazz Band
Weekly Music Will Benefit Kids for Kids Music
(Fort Worth, TX) --- Rick A. Harrison, General Manager of Sheraton Fort Worth
Hotel and Spa, has announced that starting Thursday, May 28, at 6:30 p.m. until
10:00 p.m., Shula’s 347 Grill will offer weekly live jazz every Thursday
as well as weekly food and drink specials; there will not be a cover charge.
The Freddie Jones Jazz Band will perform for the first three weeks of Shula’s
347 Grill Thursday Jazz. Other groups in the initial line up alternating with
Jones include Adonis Rose Quintet, Texas Gypsies, Breggett Rideau (2009 GRAMMY® Award
Nominee) and Fort Worth’s own Rachella Parks. The five-person Freddie
Jones Jazz Band plays soul funky jazz.
Shula’s 347 Grill patrons are not the only ones who will benefit from
Shula’s Thursday Jazz.
“This project will provide ongoing support to Kids
for Kids Music,” said
Mr. Harrison. “And once the fall school semester is in session, we’ll
host a Young Musicians’ Night featuring Kids for Kids Music student performances
at Shula’s 347 Grill. We’ll set that schedule this summer. Until
then, a portion of proceeds from the weekly concerts will go towards the not-for-profit
group.”
Kids for Kids Music is an organization developed by musician Freddie Jones,
the weekly act’s headliner. The not-for-profit is designed to provide
donated trumpets to children who show an interest in, commitment to and skill
for music but who cannot afford an instrument. According to the group, these
students will also receive free lessons, and once they have accomplished performance
milestones, they will have the opportunity to perform at a live venue before
guests, families and friends with the full supervision of their band leader.
“Music is a powerful tool to help children learn and
shape their lives,” said
Mr. Jones. “It is my goal to have kids perform music for other kids so
that they may inspire each other and create a platform for dialogue about their
dreams.”
Mr. Harrison said that adding weekly live music is a natural next step for
the Sheraton Fort Worth Hotel and Spa and Shula’s 347 Grill.
“We have the perfect venue for after-work winding down
as well as tuning up for a night on the town,” he said.
This addition of jazz at Shula’s 347 Grill coincides with the launch
of new downtown circulating public transportation.
The Sheraton Fort Worth Hotel and Spa will be the first stop on the new Molly
the Trolley green circulator, making stopping in a number of great venues downtown
easy and fun. The effort to provide circulating Trolley service by The T, Fort
Worth’s public transportation authority, has been spearheaded by a task
force of hoteliers, retailers, the Fort Worth Convention and Visitors Bureau,
and Downtown Fort Worth, Inc.
Mr. Harrison said that guests and patrons alike can easily enjoy Shula’s
347 Grill before or after a visit to Fort Worth’s fabulous downtown attractions,
like Sundance Square.
Shula’s 347 Grill is named for Hall of Fame coach Don Shula, the winningest
coach in NFL history with 347 career victories. The chic 5,385 square-foot
space at 1701 Commerce Street in downtown Fort Worth just across from the Water
Gardens exudes a casual, energized atmosphere and features a fully appointed
255-seat restaurant, high-impact bar and 24-seat private dining room. Dark
hardwoods and pigskin covered walls complement the décor, with photographs
that showcase local sports stars and legends as well as Fort Worth landmarks.
Fort Worth’s Shula’s 347 Grill is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.,
Sunday-Wednesday, and 6 a.m. to 12 a.m. on Thursday, and 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Friday and Saturday. For more information on Shula’s 347 Grill Thursday
