(Fort
Worth, Texas) – Brewmaster
Jamie Fulton continues his streak for award-winning craft beer
at the 2010 Los Angeles International Commercial Beer Competition
held recently, bringing home six awards to Fort Worth including
two gold, two silver, and two bronze medals for his hand-crafted
beer.
Mr. Fulton entered eight beers into the competition last
month, six of which were awarded medals. The Covey’s Texas Blonde
and Aduro Porter scored gold medals in the German-Style Kölsch/Köln-Style
Kölsch and Coffee Flavored Beer categories, respectively.
Silver medal winners in the Vienna-Style Lager and Imperial/Double
Red Ale categories were The Covey’s Vienna Lager and Fritz
Reserve Imperial Amber. Bronze medals went to The Covey’s
Flemish Pale in the Belgian and French-Style Ale category and to “100” in
the Belgian-Style Strong Ale category.
“It’s incredibly rewarding to receive accolades for The Covey’s
hand-crafted brews,” said Mr. Fulton. “I am especially
proud of the silver medal awarded to Fritz Reserve Imperial Amber,
which I brewed this year in honor of the birth of my second son,
Fritz Patrick Fulton.”
To achieve variety with his brews, Mr. Fulton frequently
rotates his fresh brews in the restaurant. The award-winning
Texas
Blonde, Vienna Lager, Aduro Porter, and Fritz Reserve Imperial
Amber
are currently
on tap at The Covey. “100”, although
not currently on tap, will return in the near future along with
several
other new Covey brews.
Organized and run by the L.A. County Fair, the Los Angeles
International Commercial Beer Competition is registered
with the Beer Judge Certification
Program. In closed sessions with a panel of at least
three judges, beers are compared in blind tastings against
others
of similar
style, as defined by Brewers Association style guidelines.
The competition is open to any licensed brewery or brewpub,
and all
beers entered are required to be available for sale to
the general public. The public is able to taste winning
beers
during the L.A.
County Fair September 4, 2010 through October 3, 2010.
