Currently on the bill and donating their time and talent for the cause are local and national favorites:

"Michael William Harrison is the sort of authentic folk artist who keeps the genre alive and kicking,” wrote Tom Knapp of Rambles Magazine. “This is the core of folk music, just a singer and his music. If we don't keep musicians like Michael William Harrison sitting on their stools and strumming their guitars, all the big band projects around won't keep folk music alive."

A mainstay of the local Irish music scene, Michael has many friends in the business who are hoping to raise funds for his upkeep until he can return to the work that he loves, according to Marius Donnelly at Trinity Hall.

As he makes his living as a folk singer, Michael has been unable to work since his diagnosis in late 2009. This summer, Mr. Harrison completed chemotherapy and is nearing the end of a series of radiation treatments. His prognosis is excellent, according to his physicians.

Favoring American, Irish, Scottish and Canadian folksongs, Michael has performed at pubs, festivals, coffeehouses and house concerts throughout his North Texas home and across Texas and the United States. Mr. Harrison’s repertoire dates from the 19th through the 21st centuries, focusing on story-filled tunes and musical tales from history, legends, or an artist or songwriter. Along with Celtic tunes Michael can mix-it-up from a collection pulled from such artists as the Beatles, Buddy Holly, the Kingston Trio, Van Morrison, and, of course, his own works, as well. His solo CD "First Time 'Round" is available only from the artist. His joint project (with Linda King) "For Kids of All Ages” is available at www.CDBaby.com and from iTunes.

He is equally comfortable singing for children, a rowdy pub group, a corporate luncheon, a senior's group, or hosting a good-time sing-along for a private party.
