Going
up? Sinclair building renovates historic elevators, adds
state-of-the-art technology while retaining existing art-deco interiors
(Fort Worth, Texas)— Owners of the Sinclair Building, a 16-story historic
office building located at 512 Main Street in Fort Worth, are upgrading their
1930s-era elevators to replace aging mechanical components with the latest elevator
technology while preserving the cars’ Modernist interior design details
in this revered downtown landmark.

Begun
earlier this year, the renovation process will eventually include
a complete replacement of all cable and motor systems for the
two Sinclair Building passenger elevators. Renovations will be
completed one elevator at a time, assuring that throughout construction
two of the three elevators are fully functioning for passenger
use at all times. Project completion is expected in October of
2010.
“The new Sinclair Building elevator technology
will increase passenger comfort and security and provide more energy-efficient
service,” said Rick Baumeister, a Sinclair Building partner. “Importantly,
we’ll keep the beautiful historic detailing of the current elevators that
distinguishes the Sinclair Building as one of Fort Worth’s finest Modernist
structures.”
The elevators will remain esthetically intact with new
mechanical functionality, making building transportation reliable for tenants,
clients, and visitors.
Located
in the heart of the vibrant downtown Fort Worth business and
entertainment district, the Sinclair Building is within steps
of Sundance Square, surrounded by restaurants, retail, hotels,
entertainment and residential properties. In addition to its
office space, the building provides retail on the ground floor
and storage on the basement level. Its ornate art deco Main Street
entrance is one of the most unique in the city. Inside, each
floor averages 6,400 square feet. Currently at about 80 percent
occupancy, the building has space available now, from 6,400 square
feet (an entire floor) to 200 square feet. |
Sinclair Building Partners, LP, a local investment group, purchased the Sinclair
Building at 512 Main Street in downtown Fort Worth in September, 2006.
The building has business and professional tenants as well as energy, technology,
and investment groups including Sanford, Baumeister & Frazier, PLLC, one
of Tarrant county’s largest CPA firms.
Built in 1929-1930, the Sinclair Building has housed Fort Worth businesses for
80 years. Designed by Wiley G. Clarkson and built by Harry B. Friedman, the
building is one of Fort Worth's finest examples of Art Deco architecture, featuring
prominent ziggurat elements characteristic of the Zigzag Moderne style. In 1990,
the building underwent a full restoration, accompanying its listing on the National
Register of Historical Places and recognition by the City of Fort Worth as a
Historical Landmark.
