Steinway Hall – Dallas Presents (Dallas, Texas) --- Casey D. Saliba, vice president of sales and marketing for Steinway Hall - Dallas/Fort Worth/Plano, announced today that Steinway Hall – Dallas will host two internationally-renowned Steinway & Sons piano technicians at the Steinway Hall – Dallas Heirloom Piano Event from Thursday, December 2 through Sunday, December 5, 2010. On-site at Steinway Hall – Dallas will be Franz Mohr, chief concert technician for Steinway & Sons from 1968 to 1992, and Michael Megaloudis of the Steinway & Sons Restoration Center in New York. Mr. Mohr served as the personal piano technician for some of the greatest concert artists of the twentieth century, including Van Cliburn, Vladimir Horowitz, Arthur Rubinstein, Glenn Gould, Rudolf Serkin, and others, and, as chief concert technician, directed the preparation and maintenance of all Steinway pianos provided for concerts and artists’ service throughout the world. Mr. Megaloudis, with Steinway & Sons for over twenty years, is manager of the Steinway Restoration Center and is highly involved with the Steinway & Sons Heirloom Collection. Mr. Mohr and Mr. Megaloudis will assist customers with their personal piano selections at Steinway Hall – Dallas on Friday, December 3, through Sunday, December 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (on Friday by private appointment only). Mr. Megaloudis will present a seminar, “Restoring a Masterpiece,” on Thursday, December 2 at 7:00 p.m. On Friday, December 3, Mr. Mohr will speak about his remarkable career with Steinway & Sons, including highlights from his book My Life with the Great Pianists: Horowitz, Cliburn, Rubenstein, and Others, at 7:00 p.m. Both events are free, open to the public, and held at Steinway Hall – Dallas. According to Mr. Saliba, the Steinway Hall – Dallas Heirloom Piano Event offers an unrivalled opportunity for North Texas musicians and music enthusiasts to learn about the repair and restoration of Steinway pianos, piano mechanics and construction, and how to best select a new or used piano. The Heirloom Piano Event is open to the public Saturday, December 4 and Sunday, December 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Private selection appointments are available Friday, December 3.
